Ostrava - Vítkovice: About the project
This website was created as a part of the „Vítkovice Promotion“ project, co-financed by the EU and the Moravian-Silesian Region. It is only one of the manifestations of this project. Allow us to also inform you about other activities, whose purpose is to promote Vítkovice, and more specifically, the sights of the historical centre of this unique Ostrava district.
Altogether there are 10 objects in the „Walk of Vítkovice“, labelled by a stone plaque with the name of the sight and the date of its establishment. There is a map to help you navigate during the walk. To better familiarize you with the historic sights of Vítkovice there is a multi-lingual pocket guide, which offers information in Czech, English, German and Polish.
Gift packages containing items such as colouring pages with Vítkovice themes, glass cups, Vítkovice playing cards and other promotional items are intended for visiting tourists as well as official visitors to the district. The author of the colouring pages, playing cards and cup graphics is Lenka Kocierzová.
Our unique collection of gift and promotional items includes ceramic magnets designed by the artist and painter Karol Hercík and made in the workshop of Hana Vyšlanová. The painter Karol Hercík is also the author of other promotional materials within this project (informational panels, bags, maps, CD covers and films).
Visitors to Mírové square will be welcome by two large informational panels that invite them to take an hour long walk through the listed zone in Ostrava-Vítkovice (design Karol Hercík).
Two special products, the films „Vítkovice – za památkami historického centra“ and „Vítkovice – město a lidé“ also attract foreign visitors and tourists, thanks to their multilingual versions. The author of these films is Ludvík Klega, screenplay by Mgr. Marek Hýža, camera by Vlado Haviar.
